Durable Power of Attorney for Assets & Healthcare

Contact Us Today to Arrange a Free 1/2 Hour Telephone Consultation.

A Power of Attorney (PA) is a legal document in which you (the principal) appoint another person (such as a spouse or child) as your agent. The document gives your agent the authority to perform certain acts on your behalf.

You have the option of creating a power of attorney that survives your incapacity. This is called a durable power of attorney. Otherwise, the power of attorney ends if you become incapacitated, which is when most people would want the agent to have authority to act on their behalf.

PAs are very important for planning purposes. There is a significant likelihood that you will require assistance with the management of your affairs due to incapacity at some point in your life. Even young people who have assets and concerns about the management of their financial affairs should consider this important planning tool.

Although you can buy a PA and draft it yourself, the issues you should plan for vary from person to person and thus must be tailored to your specific needs. One of the most important decisions you must make is the choice of your agent. We will spend time with you to help you select an agent and draft a Power of Attorney that meets your needs.
